Wyndham Revamps Credit Card Lineup

Wyndham Revamps Credit Card Lineup

Wyndham Rewards has refreshed its credit card and also launched a new business product. The two current consumer cards have been upgraded and now we have the first ever Wyndham Rewards business card.

All three Barclays issued cards have launched today, September 29, and are available for applications. The cards run on the Visa network and feature better earnings at Wyndham properties, restaurants, grocery stores, and bonus points at gas stations. The cards have  no foreign transaction fees and Visa Signature benefits, which include access to Visa concierge services and travel and auto protections. You also get 10% points discount on award nights.

Welcome bonuses are in line with the best offers we have seen on the old versions of the personal cards. So let’s take a look at all three new Wyndham Rewards credit cards and what benefits they provide.

Wyndham Rewards Earner Card

The Wyndham Rewards Earner Card is the new no-fee offering. It replaces the old Wyndham Rewards Visa Card.

Existing Cardholders

The old Wyndham cards will no longer be available for applications. Forbes reports that existing cardholders that have the no-fee Wyndham Rewards Visa Card or the annual fee Wyndham Rewards Visa Card, can choose to either keep their existing cards or migrate to one of the Earner cards.

But you can only own either the Earner or the Earner Plus card, not both concurrently. You can however have the business version in addition to either one of the consumer cards.

Wyndham Rewards Program

To better understand the value of these welcome bonuses, you need to know how you can use the points. Wyndham Rewards used to have flat 15,000 points per night redemptions but that has changed.

Now you can redeem your points with three simple free night tiers—7,500, 15,000, or 30,000 points per bedroom—available at thousands of Wyndham Rewards properties worldwide. With ‘go fast’ awards you can get a discounted night for just 1,500, 3,000, or 6,000 points per bedroom plus some cash at participating properties. Wyndham has more than 9,000 hotels worldwide across 20 brands. You can see more details here.

Another option is to transfer your Wyndham Rewards points to Caesars Rewards and enjoy Vegas-style rewards. For every 1 Wyndham Rewards point you get 1 Reward Credit with Caesars Rewards and then redeem for 1¢. Rewards can be used for free play, dining, event tickets and more. You can transfer points here.

Conclusion

Not everyone will rush to get these cards, but they do provide some good value and interesting earning options. The main change for the personal cards is the addition of the gas category. However it is the business card that earns the best rate there, 8 points for every dollar spent on gas. That card also earns 5 points per dollar spent on marketing, advertising and utilities. All three cards also come with an annual points bonus as well.

The signup bonuses are decent and about the same as we have seen for the two consumer cards in the past. You can get 30K points with the no-fee Wyndham Rewards Earner Card, while the  Wyndham Rewards Earner Plus Card and Wyndham Rewards Earner Business Card have bonuses of 45K. The two personal cards also have a 0% introductory APR for 15 months on balance transfers made within 45 days of account opening, with no fee. That’s a rarity these days.
