Wyndham Rewards Will Add New Redemption Tier

Wyndham Rewards is making changes to its hotel award chart later this year, introducing a new top redemption tier. That means that the points pricing for some top hotels will jump by 50%, while some of the least expensive properties might drop from 7,500 to 5,000 points per night.

Starting September 15, 2026, Wyndham will expand from three redemption tiers to four:

  • 5,000 points (down from 7,500)
  • 15,000 points
  • 30,000 points
  • 45,000 points (new tier)

The biggest change is the addition of the new 45,000-point tier, which will probably apply to a small number of Wyndham’s most premium hotels. Previously, the highest redemption rate for a standard free night was 30,000 points. That means that you will end up paying much more for some of the most sought after Wyndham hotels.

At the same time, Wyndham is lowering the entry-level redemption rate to 5,000 points, replacing the current 7,500-point tier. Hotels across the portfolio will be redistributed among the four tiers, with some moving down and others moving up. According to Wyndham, the vast majority of properties will remain in the 5,000-, 15,000- and 30,000-point tiers. But we all know that eventually they will start moving upward.

Wyndham says the changes reflect the growth of its portfolio, which has added hundreds of luxury, lifestyle and all-inclusive properties since the current three-tier award chart was introduced.

Conclusion

While Wyndham is framing these changes as an expansion of redemption options, the overall impact is likely to be negative for many members.

Yes, some lower-end properties will drop from 7,500 to 5,000 points, but those hotels generally aren’t the ones most members are looking to redeem points for. The more meaningful change is the introduction of a 45,000-point tier, which raises the cost of award nights at some of Wyndham’s most desirable properties by 50%.

If you have plans to redeem points at one of those hotels, it would be wise to book before the new award chart takes effect on September 15, 2026.
