American Express is targeting some customers with a great welcome bonus for the Amex Gold Card. If eligible, you can earn 100,000 Membership Rewards points. This offer doesn’t contain the usual lifetime language, which makes it even more appealing. But it seems also highly targeted. Let’s take a look at the details of this offer.

The Offer

  • Earn 100,000 Membership Rewards® points after you spend $4,000 on eligible purchases with your Card in the first 6 months of Card Membership.
  • $250 Annual Fee

The offer is showing up online, either as a banner, or in the Amex Offers section. Check your accounts to see if you are eligible.

Card Highlights

  • Earn 4X Membership Rewards points at U.S. Restaurants, U.S. Supermarkets (on up to $25,000 in purchases annually)
  • $120 dining credit which gives enrolled Card Members up to $10 per month in statement credits when they use their Card at eligible dining partners including participating Shake Shack locations, The Cheesecake Factory, Grubhub/Seamless.
  • $120 annually in Uber Cash which can be used on Uber Eats orders or Uber rides in the U.S., up to $10 per month.

Conclusion

This is the highest points bonus bonus we have seen for the Amex Gold Card. Plus the spending requirement is the same as the current public offer.

Keep in mind that it’s possible to also get a 90,000 points bonus through referrals using a clean browser. If you get that offer to show up, that should be the better option combined with the referral bonus.

  1. long time amex customer with checking and biz accounts. seems like my NLL offers have dried up after over 600k points across multiple biz cards. any public offers for this out there

  3. FYI – There’s an error in your post that is fairly significant. The Gold card earns 4x at restaurants worldwide for eat-in dining. Takeout, delivery and grocery stores are limited to the US.
