$25 Off $2500 Amex Offer

$25 Off $2500 Amex Offer

A new $25 off $2500 Amex Offer started showing up in people’s accounts late last week. The interesting thing about this one is it can be done up to 3 times.  That is only an additional 1% off your spend, on top the points or cash back you normally earn, so it isn’t super exciting. However, it can make sense in certain situations. More on that in a bit.

New Amex Offer Details

Get a $25 statement credit back by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $2,500 in one or more eligible purchases. Once you add the offer to your eligible card, you will have 90 days to spend $2,500+ or more, up to 3 times during the promotion period.

Offer Terms

  • Add offer to your card by 12/31/2022.
  • An “eligible purchase” means a purchase made with your enrolled Card within 90 days upon saving the offer to your Card in accordance with these terms.
  • Cash advances, balance transfers, other fees and charges such as interest, annual fees and foreign currency conversion fees are not eligible transactions and do not qualify for this offer.

When This Offer Makes Sense

Getting an additional 1% back on $2500 in spend is probably not worth chasing for most people. That is a pretty steep spend goal for only $25. But, if you have the offer on a card you were going to spend on anyway then it could make sense. Say a card with a welcome offer attached or one with a great spending category bonus, like grocery with the Amex Gold. Lastly, any card with a spending bonus worth chasing, like the Amex Surpass, would be another card worthy of pursuing it on. Basically any card you were going to spend on at some point this year anyway. That is like getting your cake and eating it too.

Final Thoughts

This is nothing like those insanely profitable Amex Offers going around a few months ago, where Amex was paying you to spend. But, in a perfect situation they can juice up your rewards a bit. Otherwise this is a probably a pass for many who are targeted.
