$50 Million Disney Settlement for YouTube TV and DirecTV Stream
Disney has agreed to a $50 million partial class action settlement resolving allegations that it violated federal antitrust laws and contributed to higher prices for live television streaming subscriptions. Disney has not admitted wrongdoing.
The settlement covers people who purchased a YouTube TV subscription or a DirecTV live-streaming subscription between April 1, 2019, and March 31, 2026. Eligible DirecTV services include DirecTV Stream, DirecTV Now and AT&T TV Now.
Class members who submit valid claims can receive a cash payment based partly on how long they subscribed. The exact payout is not yet known and will depend on factors including the number of valid claims submitted.
Proof of purchase is required. Claimants will need to provide account information for YouTube TV or an eligible DirecTV service, such as an account number and the email address or phone number associated with the subscription. The final approval hearing is scheduled for January 14, 2027, so payments would not be distributed until after the settlement receives final approval.
