Alternatives to FHR in Las Vegas

Last week we found out that as of January 1, seemingly all of the Las Vegas resorts participating in FHR have switched the $100 benefit to a spa credit. This is a bummer for most of us because we were able to use the credit to keep essential costs (AKA food) down. Instead it looks like you’ll have a $100 credit to the spa. $100 towards Spa services in Vegas is probably good for a blow out at best. So we did some digging and found a few decent alternatives.

Check out our guide for everything you need to know about the LHRC collection. After a few test searches, I’m happy to report that the credit is still showing as a food and beverage credit as you can see from the picture.

Virtuoso

Like FHR and LHRC, Virtuoso offers a similar suite of benefits including breakfast, priority check-in etc. While not doing away with the food and bev credit entirely, they are splitting the credit between Spa and food beginning in 2019. It’s better than nothing!

Thoughts

FHR is still an awesome program but previous changes definitely decrease the value proposition for many of us. Everyone has to eat while in Vegas but not everyone loves hanging out at overpriced spas when there are a ton of other things to do. Thankfully, there are a ton of cards that qualify for Chase’s Luxury Booking Program and it’s definitely worth consideration next time you’re in Vegas.

  1. Chase LHRC, 1st search result under google. Similar to Amex FHR, slightly more hotels, without the guaranteed 4pm checkout. Available to any chase UR card signature level or above.

  2. We did 8 FHR Las Vegas trips in 2018 (this year), primarily due to the F&B credit. With that now gone and resort fees higher than ever…sorry Vegas, see you some other time! Bubble 2.0 is popping as we speak, once the downstream effects from that start hitting, I suspect we’ll see deals come back. Top of the Everything Bubble in 2018, not a good background for deals. Give it time and go where the deals still exist…

  3. If it’s any consolation, $100 doesn’t go far at any “Fine Hotel and Resort” regardless of where it’s located.
