Analysis
They ran the exact same promo in October and I’m glad to see it return. Basically it works out to an extra 2.5X miles per dollar on the $500 in spend. Since the bonus is in addition to the normal earnings, you can do quite well. I still recommend comparing portal rates at a site like Cash Back Monitor to make sure you are getting the best return and don’t forget to maximize your family’s accounts as well!
Happy Shopping!

ALWAYS make sure to check that your online shopping portal credits you with miles. I have found that four shopping visits were not credited recently or reversed because I used a “coupon”. For the ones that were valid, it took over a month for customer service to credit my miles & when they did, I didn’t receive the previous bonus because it was not within the time period.
Does anyone else seem to have to ALWAYS request miles to post for purchases through the AA portal? I am 0/4 of my last four transactions, and each time I have to request the miles. I know I’m doing it correctly because I’ve used the portal many times. It just seems like the lat 6 months they are just hoping you don’t mind not getting the points.
