American Airlines 5,000 Bonus Points Promotion

American Airlines has a new promotion that is open to all AAdvantage Members. Upon registration and completion of five different activities you can earn 5,000 Bonus AAdvantage Miles. This is not the most generous promotion I’ve ever seen but American does regulalrly run offers for AAdvantage miles, so you could stack it for better earnings. Currently on the AAdvantage Promo Page I see two different promos that would stack for car rentals and dining earnings.

Details

  • Registration for the offer is required
  • Activity that occurs before you are registered for the offer won’t count toward the offer

Earn up to 5,000 AAdvantage bonus miles when you register and complete these qualifying activities in any order through September 30, 2018:

  • Make any purchase with AAdvantage® eShopping℠
  • Dine-in or carry out with AAdvantage® Dining℠
  • Book and stay at a hotel at bookaahotels.com
  • Rent and drive a car at aa.com/cars
  • Fly on an American Airlines marketed and operated flight

Earning Structure

  • The more activities you complete, the more you’ll earn:
    • 1 activity = 50 bonus miles
    • 2 activities = 250 bonus miles
    • 3 activities = 1,000 bonus miles
    • 4 activities = 2,500 bonus miles
    • 5 activities = 5,000 bonus miles
  • Each qualifying activity can only be completed once to count toward the offer

Conclusion

This isn’t a terribly generous offer, but you should be able to easily complete a few of these. If you have any travel to book it could be helpful to look at the rental or hotel sites as well as AA flight prices. The offer is good through September 30th which gives you the whole summer and then some. 5k AA miles are worth roughly $75 so I wouldn’t drive myself crazy trying to complete this promo, but it can be worth doing if you don’t have to go out of your way too much.
