American Express Platinum Card Saks Benefit Going Away
American Express will soon remove the Saks benefits from its consumer Platinum card. This is a $100 annual credit issued in two $50 credits every six months, which was first introduced in 2018.
It was useful for getting a couple of overpriced items very year, or stacking gift cards for a larger purchase. But more recently selection has been very limited, Saks has filed for bankruptcy and they have closed many stores around the country.
Unsurprisingly, American Express has revealed that this credit is going away. The change was confirmed by Doctor of Credit and they also published a statement from American Express:
Starting July 1, 2026, the annual Shop Saks credit on the U.S. Consumer Platinum Card will be removed.
New and existing U.S. Consumer Platinum Card Members can continue to get up to $50 in statement credits for purchases at Saks Fifth Avenue or saks.com on their Platinum Card through June 30, 2026. No minimum purchase required. Enrollment required.
On July 1, we plan to introduce several new and exclusive Amex Offers for Platinum Card Members at top retailers and brands that our Card Members know and love. More details to come soon
It sounds like they have no plans to introduce a new credit to replace Saks, and will instead just issue some similar Amex Offers in July to make up for it.
You still have time to use your credits, if you’re able to find anything you need.
