$300 ChatGPT Credit
American Express has added a new $300 ChatGPT credit to the U.S. Business Platinum and Business Gold Cards. Amex had given a heads up that this was coming a few months back, but the day is finally here. If you wanted to play a role in bringing Terminator 2 to reality for “free” then now is your chance! I’m kidding – kind of.
How Much Does ChatGPT Business Cost
ChatGPT offers several plans, and ChatGPT Business requires a minimum of 2 users. With annual billing it would cost you $20 – $25 per user/month depending on if you do a monthly or yearly subscription. That charge is per person, and it does look like the business account requires you to add at least 2 users.
The $300 credit would cover the cost for one user, but you would be on the hook for the other $300 for the other user. If you have two cards with the credits you could swap them out after 6 months etc. to keep the account completely covered by credits.

Terms Of The ChatGPT Credit
Here are some of the notable terms of the $300 ChatGPT credit:
- Benefit enrollment required.
- Only the Basic Card Member or Authorized Account Manager(s) on a Business Platinum Card® or Business Gold Card Account can enroll the Card Account in the benefit.
- Eligible purchases must be charged to the enrolled Card Account for the benefit to apply.
- Purchases by both the enrolled Basic Card Member and Employee Card Members on the enrolled Card Account are eligible for statement credits.
- Each Card Account is eligible for up to $300 in statement credits per calendar year.
- Valid only on purchases of ChatGPT Business made directly with OpenAI in the U.S. and U.S. territories where OpenAI is the merchant of record for the purchase.
- ChatGPT Business purchases are subject to auto-renewal.
- If you purchase an annual subscription, OpenAI will charge you the then-applicable subscription fee and any applicable taxes each year on your annual subscription renewal date until cancelled.
- If you purchase a monthly subscription, OpenAI will charge you the then-applicable subscription fee and any applicable taxes each month on your monthly subscription renewal date until cancelled.
Like most Amex benefits, this one needs to be activated first. Be sure to do that before you do anything else!
Are More Credits Coming?
This announcement is also interesting because the ChatGPT credit was already mentioned back in January in a survey that would also see the annual fee on the Business Gold card go up to $495. So it’s possible that the card will be refreshed this spring, when the credit goes live.
That survey also mentioned other credits such as:
- $240 Notion Credit
- $240 Xero Credit
- $250 LegalZoom Credit
- $100 Resy Credit
Come on Resy credit – this card needs you in the worst way!
$300 ChatGPT Credit On Select Amex Business Cards: Final Thoughts
I personally don’t find this $300 ChatGPT credit super compelling, but I could see why many others would. That is especially true on the Amex Business Gold card. This credit would offset most of the annual fee. Let’s hope a yearly increase in fee isn’t coming there! I am kind of surprised the credit is the same for the Gold and Platinum cards, since one costs $520 more a year.
