You Can No Longer Apply for the Amex Ameriprise Platinum Card
The American Express Ameriprise Platinum card is no longer available for new applications. Now when you go to the card page here, it displays a message saying “this offer is no longer available”.
The American Express Ameriprise Platinum card was a different flavor of the Amex Platinum card and was considered a separate product.
The card used to have a waived fee for the first year and no welcome offer. That was a huge perk on its own for people who were looking to get all the travel perks that the Platinum card provides without the hefty fee. Recently it switched to a 60,000 point welcome offer and you had to pay the fee.
It’s not clear what will happen with current cardholders in the future. Looks like they have now switched to Visa cards issued by Elan Bank.
That leaves just three flavors of American Express Platinum cards now:
- The Platinum Card® from American Express – 60K Welcome Offer (Learn More)
- The Business Platinum® Card from American Express – 100K Welcome Offer (Learn More)
- The American Express Platinum® Card for Schwab – 60K Points Bonus
