Anyone Can Now Open Amex Business Checking Account
American Express announced today a small but very important change for the American Express Business Checking account. This account is now available to any eligible U.S. small business, offering a digital banking experience with no monthly fees. The account also gives you the ability to earn and redeem Membership Rewards points for select travel and for deposits directly into the Business Checking account.
American Express Business Checking originally launched in October 2021 and has been available to existing U.S. American Express Card Members.
This is the first business banking product offered by American Express that allows customers to earn and redeem Membership Rewards points. You can get a value of up to 1 cent per point when you redeem into the Business Checking account.
For those who are not familiar with American Express Business Checking, here are some of the features:
- No monthly fees or minimum balance requirements
- Earn 1.30% APY on balances up to $500,000
- Customers can oversee their accounts
- Make mobile check deposits
- Pay vendors and bills
- Access 24/7 support– anytime, anywhere online or via phone.
- Link Business Checking account and American Express Business Cards to QuickBooks in one simple step to view accounts and transactions.
There’s also a much improved signup bonus that launched at the beginning of this month. Now through December 12, 2023, eligible customers can earn 50,000 Membership Rewards points after successfully opening a new American Express Business Checking account and completing qualifying activities.
And even better, if you are targeted, you can earn a total of 220,000 Membership Rewards points when you also open a new Amex Business Platinum Card.

Compared to Chase, Amex checking products are non starters. Period. And, one can either have a personal or business checking account. Not both. What a (stinking) joke.
