New Amex Business Platinum Card Members Will Get 5X Categories for Three Months
A couple of days ago we wrote about some possible offers that could be added to Amex Business Platinum cards for new applicants. A press release from American Express noted that “in the coming weeks, new Amex Business Platinum Card Members will also receive exciting offers for their first three months of Membership.”
Although the wording suggests that different offers could be coming, Amex reached out to clarify that it will be in fact the same offers that were announce for current Business Platinum Card Members.
Starting Jan 11, eligible new Business Platinum Card Members will also receive 5X Membership Rewards points in these same five categories (wireless, shipping, advertising, gas and office supplies) within their first three months of membership (no enrollment required).
Conclusion
Current Amex Business Platinum Card Members can earn 4 additional Membership Rewards points for a total of 5 points on each dollar spent on eligible purchases made by 6/30/2021. That means that they will get almost 6 months to use the maximum of $20,000 for each category. Just remember that it only applies to those who had the card priori to October 31, 2020. The extra earning is on top of the (75k-100K depending on referrals etc.) welcome offer as well.
New Business Platinum Card applicants will only get three months as part of the welcome offer. But in order to get the bonus categories, you will need to wait until they become available on January 11.

A marketing department struggling to keep its product relevant, and failing badly. I’m old enough to remember when the Platinum Card was almost entirely oriented around people who travel, with benefits designed to make that travel more comfortable. Now its a card oriented around random gimmicks and discounts making me buy things I don’t beed to allow me to feel like my annual fee is buying is buying me something. Total fail.
