Amex Making Platinum Card Changes
American Express is making some changes later this year. These changes are shown in recent statement credits as first reported by Doctor of Credit. Amex will remove “Events with Amex”, Uber VIP is also going away and will be replaced with Signature Support for Amex, and there are changes to lounge access which we already knew.
Events with Amex Benefit Removal
Effective June 10th, 2026, Events with Amex will be removed as a Card Member benefit. Although Events with Amex will be discontinued, Card Members can still access special tickets, unique offers, and exclusive Card Member experiences at select events. Learn more about Amex Experiences at Americanexpress.com/entertainment.
Centurion Lounge Access Policy Changes
This was already revealed earlier this year. Effective July 8, 2026, there will be two (2) changes to the terms and conditions for The Centurion Lounge:
- To access The Centurion Lounge, all guests accompanying a Card Member must be traveling on the same flight as the Card Member.
- During a layover, Card Members must arrive within 5 hours of the connecting flight. Same-day round trip itineraries are not considered connecting flights.
Change to the $200 Uber Cash Benefit
Effective May 7, 2026, Uber VIP will be removed from the $200 Uber Cash benefit and replaced with Signature Support for Amex, a premium level of phone customer service including 24/7 access to live customer support agents. Signature Support for Amex can be accessed in the account section of the Uber, Uber Eats, or Postmates apps via the Partner Rewards Hub or Help pages. Further details will be available at uber.com/signaturesupport starting on May 7, 2026.
