Amex Platinum

Amex Platinum 60K Targeted Offer

American Express is sending out targeted offers for the personal Amex Platinum card. This bonus matches the current public offer, but could be of interest to those who have previously held the card.

The Offer

  • Earn 60,000 Membership Rewards® Points after you use your new Card to make $5,000 in purchases in your first 3 months.

The subject line says:

  • Congratulations. You’re Selected to Apply for An Exclusive Offer. or
  • Congratulations [Name]! Get Exciting New Benefits with The Platinum Card® Membership.

Analysis

The bonus of 60,000 Membership Rewards points is the new standard bonus on the card, so this is nothing to scream about for those who have never had the card previously. There’s often better bonuses, up to 100K and even super rare 150K, that ar worth waiting for.

What’s interesting about this offer is that it doesn’t include the lifetime restriction. In Amex applications you will always see the following limitation “Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have or have had this product.” This targeted offer doesn’t have that language, which means that you should receive the sign-up bonus, even if you’ve had the card in the past.

Many people want the card for the perks, and the sign-up bonus more than covers the annual fee, so you can enjoy a small profit and benefits for a year.

Use Caution

This is a targeted so there shouldn’t be any issues such as those clawbacks we saw when applying through leaked links. But I would still suggest to avoid MS though with Amex cards to avoid any problems. Read Caution: You Should Be Careful with Amex Bonuses, Clawbacks Could Happen Even If you Don’t MS.

Card Details

The card was recently upgraded, with added benefits, a metal design and an increased annual fee of $550. A $200 annual Uber credit was on of the main additions. Now you can also get free additional Gold Cards, which is great for Amex Offers.

Conclusion

This is not the best offer we’ve seen, and in fact it just matched the current public offer. If you have never had the card just wait for a better bonus. However, for those who are targeted and have previously had the card, this is a great offer since it doesn’t include the lifetime restriction.
