You Can Earn Miles When Selling or Buying a Home
If you are in the market to buy or sell a home, then this new program could be useful to also earn you lots of miles. Before we get into the details of the program, it is important to points out that the miles should be an afterthought and not the goal when selling or buying a home.
If you are buying a home, then the interest rate is the first thing you should focus on. You should also pay attention to fees associated with the purchase/sale. The program requires you to work with a real estate agent, which probably comes with extra expenses. But with everything else being equal, you can then consider the possibility of earning AAdvantage miles for your purchases or sale.
Earn AAdvantage Miles
American Airlines and Realogy, the largest residential real estate service provider in the country, have teamed up to create a real estate rewards program called Miles from Home that offers consumers 2,000 AAdvantage® miles for every $10,000 of the sales and/or purchase price of a home when working with an agent from one of Realogy’s top brands.
Here’s how it Works
- Enroll in the Program: Sign-up online or call 1-866-466-3010 to speak to a Miles From Home® Coordinator, no obligations, to help understand your homebuying/selling needs.
- Connect with an Agent: Get introduced to a top local real estate agent from one of the most recognized brands in real estate, including Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, CENTURY 21, Coldwell Banker, ERA and Corcoran.
- Earn Miles: Earn 2,000 AAdvantage® miles for every $10,000 after buying and/or selling a home.
You can check out the handy miles calculator on the bottom of this page to determine how many miles someone can earn based on the home price. For example, selling your home for $500,000 would earn you 100,000 AAdvantage® miles. If you then purchased a new home in the program for $400,000, you would earn another 80,000 AAdvantage miles.
Conclusion
This could be a nice program for those who are already working with the eligible realtors such as CENTURY 21, Coldwell Banker etc.. But, as I mentioned above, you should be focusing on other things, such as fees and interest, and not the 50K or 100K miles that you will earn through this program.
The $500, $1K or even $2K worth of miles that you can earn through this promotion, could easily cost you way more if you are paying any additional fees to hire a real estate agent.
