Here are some interesting articles I found on miles, points, travel and personal finance:
Capital One Shutdowns Can Cause Discover Shutdowns (YMMV) – Doctor of Credit
This is not too surprising, as it has happened with other mergers too.
Reader Comment: Hilton Standard Room Rewards Becoming Practically Unavailable Worldwide? – Loyalty Lobby
This sounds similar to what we see with some individual Hyatt hotels, and I am sure every brand has them. Since the reimbursement for award stays hasn’t increased lock step as award prices increased, it isn’t surprising. I think that is a big fight hotel owners are having right now, and it likely won’t end well for us. I don’t really blame them – I blame the loyalty programs that should have increased the payouts when our award prices shut up. The higher rates the owners will ask for should have been baked into the award rate increases already. I don’t think this is some wide spread problem across Hilton Honors either though.
America’s 10 Best State Parks for Budget-Friendly Vacations – Travel Pulse
Maybe an inspiration for a last minute summer trip.
