COURTYARD MARRIOTT WILL PAY YOU $7,500 TO TRAVEL THE WORLD AND GO TO FOOTBALL GAMES – Thrillist

It sounds like you would only have to go to 4 games, which includes the Super Bowl.  You must be comfortable in front of the camera and have a strong understanding of the NFL.  Pretty cool opportunity for an NFL fan who likes to travel.  On another note, anyone else waiting for the NFL/Marriott Twitter thing to start again?

Visa and MasterCard agree to settle swipe fee class action for $6.2 billion – CNN Money

Financial institutions doing shady things? No way, say it ain’t so! This is a pretty large settlement and I wonder what some of the smaller businesses will end up with, probably not much.  Price fixing is one of the worst things a corporation can do in my opinion. It destroys competition which hurts the consumer in the long run.

Don’t Miss Free Museum Day on September 22 – Travel with Grant

If you are free on Saturday be sure to check out the list in Shelli’s article.  There may be a museum near you on the list.  If you can’t make it Saturday remember that Bank of America gets you into a ton of museums free every first weekend of the month.

4 tips from my experience renting 4 cars in 4 days – Points with a Crew

You guys know I HATE renting cars, especially because of their shady fees, but sometimes it is unavoidable.  Ian gives you a few tips on how to save money/time on your next rental.

Banks are keeping closer tabs on your reputation than ever before… Business Insider

Chase has been on quite the tear lately. They have really been tightening the reigns.  I do think banks check stuff like this but I also think the guy must have had something suspicious in his purchase history etc. to get the ball rolling.  What do you think?

  1. The thing that bugs me about this shutdown story is that it could have been a case of his identity being stolen and Chase interpreting data negatively that may have been done in his name. Without being required to disclose their reasons for the shutdown, he will never be given the opportunity to correct any such issues. There should be a law that they have to fully disclose their reasons and a venue for advocating any appropriate defense.

  2. Wow, I read the Chase shut down issue. Me thinks there’s probably more to his story. It isn’t as clean and simple as the article wrote. He probably has very high credit limits or had been using multiple checking accounts to pay off his debt. Why in the right frame of mind would Chase shut down a model customer with a major life events scheduled, he would have been the perfect money making tool for all the banking products with weddings/home/honey moon vacation.. And it also seems that he and his wife generally generate relatively higher than middle class income.
