Last month Hilton announced that they would be giving 1,000 bonus points to HHonors members who logged in and either created or changed their password. Shortly after their announcement, the company reached out to bloggers to inform announce their systems weren’t quite ready and that the promotion was on hold.

Yesterday I followed up with Hilton’s representative and was told she had nothing new to add. Well thankfully she was able to send me some good news today. Instead of detailing what she said, I will post it here for you.

HHonors members will need to update their passwords by April 1. As of this date, members will be required to create a new password upon login as Hilton will no longer accept PINs. Since we know this can be a hassle for members, and to encourage adoption of this new login procedure, Hilton is offering an incentive of 1,000 Hilton HHonors Bonus Points if members update their passwords by March 25, 2015.

Questions

I followed up with her to ask about members who already changed their password after the first announcement of the promotion. The answer is, “If your current password was created prior to March 12, 2015, you will need to change your password and make this update by March 25, 2015, to earn the 1,000 Bonus Points.”

So even if you changed or created a password back when this was first announced, you will have to do it again in order to get the bonus points. A bummer sure, but free points are still nice, even if it took a month for them to straighten everything out.
