Barclays View Mastercard to Replace Old Apple Card
Barclays has reached out to customers who still have the old no-fee Barclays Apple Rewards Visa to inform then that they will be shifted over to a new product, with a different rewards program. Andrew provided the details in our Facebook Group.
Apple launched its new card developed by Goldman Sachs in 2019. In September of 2020, Apple discontinued special financing for Barclays cardholders, suggesting that customers get the Apple Card instead.
Barclays is now ending its Apple Rewards program as well. Starting on May 7, Barclays Apple Rewards Visa cardholders will receive a Barclays View Mastercard. This is actually a somewhat interesting product, which will remain fee-free. Let’s check the details.
Barclays View Mastercard
Here are some of the highlights of this new card that will be sent out on May 7:
- 3X points on restaurant purchases (including takeout and delivery)
- 2x points on internet, select streaming, phone, and TV services
- 2X points on grocery store purchases (excluding Target and Walmart)
- 1X points on all other purchases
- Periodic offers for up to 18 months special financing at retailers such as Apple and Best Buy
- No Annual Fee
- Tap-and-go NFC technology
Any unredeemed points that you have in your current account, will be automatically transferred to your Barclays View Mastercard account, unless your account is delinquent, as determined by Barclays at its sole discretion.
Your points will no longer be automatically redeemed for gift cards. With your Barclays View Mastercard, you’ll be able to redeem your points for many things at BarclaysUS.com — including deposits into a U.S. checking or savings account, statement credits, gift cards to brand-name restaurants and retailers like Apple, and merchandise.
If you have a no-fee Barclays Apple Rewards Visa, it will be shifted to a Barclays View Mastercard on May 7th. The card has no annual fee and will earn up to 3X back in rewards.
Your new Barclays View Mastercard will arrive by mail shortly after your account is updated. Keep an eye on your mailbox from mid-May to mid-June. Your payment due date will not change and you can continue using the same account online.
