  1. With utility companies such as T-Mobile recently terminating monthly auto pay discounts for credit card payments, what bank checking account offer similar perks that some credit cards offer such as cell phone insurance?

  2. Is the juice worth the squeeze though? Let’s take the headline Citi offer an an example. $300,000 for 60 days gets you $2,000. That’s 2/3 of a percent. If you got that on an annualized basis without compounding the interest you’d get 4% interest. I can do better than that with a lot of banks without the hassle of opening and closing accounts or possibly getting Citi pissed at me and closing my credit cards.

    • There’s definitely a different value proposition in a higher interest-rate environment. I’m getting >5% at UFB so I’m parking my cash there for the short-term.

  3. I was just approved for the new no-fee Autograph Visa from Wells Fargo. Received an offer in the mail. It offers 30,000 points after spending $1,500 in 3 months and pays out 3x points on travel, restaurants, gas stations, and streaming services.

  4. Currently working on the US Bank bonus, and will hit up Wells Fargo before March 31st once those direct deposit dollars free up when I wrap up US Bank.
Funny story, my wife got a little mad at how much I made on bank bonus signups and how it was “ruining” our tax refund. Lol

  5. Can someone clarify with the Citi offers, specifically in the following term: “Must not currently have or have had a Citibank consumer checking account within last 180 calendar days”.

Does this mean if I have a current Citi checking account, I am not allowed to open a new one for the bonus, OR, do they mean if you have opened a consumer checking account within the last 180 days?

  6. What is upsetting to me is that they want you to do the qualifying direct deposits within 60 days. When social security is your only direct deposit it makes it impossible due to the fact you need to open the account first and then a change to where your SS gets deposited. They kill all us seniors because of that.

  7. Wait for bonus to post – until then do not close the citi account
Convert it to a lower balance needed no fee account after 75 days
    Close after bonus posts

  8. Hi. Thanks for positing this.
If I transfer money every month from one of my bank accounts to the I’ll open with Citybank or Chase. Does that count as a direct deposit?
    Thank you.

    • An ACH transfer from one bank account to another can sometimes count as a direct deposit, but most often only deposits from payroll or government benefits count as direct deposits.

  9. What is the best way to close the Chase saving once you’ve met the criteria? Transfer money then call or transfer then message them…?
