Bilt Mastercard Doubles Earning Cap on Rent Payments
Bilt has made an improvement to its Bilt Mastercard, doubling the amount of points that you can earn every year for paying your rent. This change will not affect all cardholders, but it can be a boost for those who are in major cities and pay high monthly rent.
Last summer for example, New York City topped the list as the most-expensive market at $3,780 a month for a one bedroom apartment. The median one-bedroom in San Francisco was priced at $3,100 a month.
With Bilt you can earn points for paying rent, and that earning is substantial when you use the Bilt Matsercard. You get one point for every dollar spent, and the annual cap is now 100,000 points. Previously you could only earn up to 50,000 Bilt Rewards.
This will only affect you if you are paying more than $4,166 in rent every month. Even if your rent is up to $8,300, you will now continue to earn points throughout the whole year.
Bilt Mastercard Highlights
With the Bilt Mastercard you can earn:
- 3x points on dining
- 2x points on travel
- 1x points on rent (up to 100,000 points per calendar year)
- 1x points on all other purchases
Bilt also offers its Rent Day promotion the first of each month. You earn double points on all non-rent purchases which means 6x on dining and 4x on travel. Plus you get other goodies such as Hyatt status, transfer bonuses or free points with just for taking a quiz.
Cardholders must make at least 5 card purchases per statement cycle to earn purchase rewards for their spending.
Bilt has valuable transfer partners such as Hyatt and American Airlines.
Conclusion
Bilt Mastercard holders can now earn up to 100,000 Bilt points annually just for paying their rent. Most people will not get close to the cap, but it can be useful for city dwellers in places such as New York and San Francisco.
Other can still pay they rent and earn 1x per every dollar spent. Even if you don’t pay rent, it’s worth signing up for the Bilt Rewards app, which is free. You can take advantage of Rent Day promotions, and normally get up to 350 free points every month.
