Boeing to Restart 737 MAX Production in May
Boeing is looking to restart the production of the 737 MAX soon. The company has said the production could resume in May and has told suppliers to be ready to start suppliers to be ready to ship parts in April. Planes have been grounded and production was halted after two fatal crashes last year. It has a backlog of 400 undelivered jets per Reuters.
The news comes while the government approve a $2 trillion bailout package. Boeing is seeking $60 billion in aid, but has said it wouldn’t take federal assistance if it required giving equity to the government.
The coronavirus pandemic has wiped billions off Boeing’s market value. Boeing stock is trading at $162, down from $345 in mid February. Production has stopped at it Washington state facilities due to coronavirus risks.
The current situation makes the restart of the 737 MAX much more important for Boeing. The FAA said earlier this year that they could approve the grounded Boeing 737 MAX’s return to service before mid-year. That means that if Boeing can start delivering, they could be used right away. That is if tavel demand starts picking up.

Ashame on Boeing.
With all the money they make selling planes, they want the $60 billion.
I’m sure they want most of the money to fix the 737 Max mistake. That’s to include, fix the airplane, pay for all the lawsuits, give the upper management and stockholders more money and who knows what else.
Maybe little money for the employees as it is required as per law. Let’s see…
The 737 Max problem has no relation with the virus, so I think that no money from the bailout should be used for this. They should scrap the 737 and start from scratch. Changing the name will not fix the problem.
How debris got into the fuel tank? Very suspicious, right?
Maybe Boeing came up with the Coronavirus to fix the Max money problems.
SAFETY OVER PROFITS,
No the other way around.
with the virus
I’m leaving on a jet plane I don’t know if I’ll be back again
So nothing about the “fix” so it stops crashing, the quality control problems and the faulty safety culture at Boeing. Yeah, I can’t wait to kiss my wife goodbye for the last time before I step onto this plane- not.
That’s funny. I work for Boeing and they haven’t said anything like that to the employees. Let me get my popcorn, I gotta see how this is gonna play out….
Numerous design flaws..should
Have been scrapped.
Ridiculous. Entire C-Suite should be swept clean. Then they can bury this mistake and move on.
Totally ridiculous. This is what our bailout money goes to? Restart a flawed and unwanted airplane. Just gross. Build a new model!
And this is the company that wants $60B….
I agree with Gene. People are already scared of flying due to the possibility of getting coronavirus. Of those willing to fly, I doubt they’d want to fly the 737-MAX, especially if there are other options out there.
