Bonus for Amex Hilton Surpass Card

Amex Hilton Surpass 125K Offer

American Express has released a new, highest ever offer, for the Hilton Surpass credit card. This is a card that will become extinct soon and will convert to the new Hilton Ascend card once the Amex Hilton lineup is overhauled.

The Offer

Earn 100,000 Bonus Points after you spend $3,000 or more in purchases with your new Card within the first 3 months of Card Membership† and an additional 25,000 Bonus Points after you make an additional $1,000 in purchases with your new Card within your first 6 months. Offer expires 1/17/2018.

Annual Fee: $95 ($75 if application received before January 18, 2018)

Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have or have had this product.

It is an affiliate offer only available to TPG so click HERE to their page if you would like to apply.

Key Features

  • Hilton HHonors Gold status.
  • Diamond status after $40K in spend a year.
  • 12X points at Hilton Hotels, 6X at U.S. restaurants, supermarkets and gas stations and 3X everywhere else.
  • $75 annual fee

Once the card is converted to the new Ascend card you will also get:

  • 10 free Priority Pass lounge passes
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • One Weekend Night Reward at a hotel or resort in the Hilton portfolio after spending $15,000 in purchases on the card in a calendar year
  • Annual fee goes up to $95

Analysis

This is a very good offer, and it is the highest points bonus we have ever seen, but I wouldn’t call it the best ever offer. They previously had a 100K signup bonus that also came with a Free Night after paying the second annual fee.

In deciding which offer is better, you have to weigh a free night against 25K Hilton points plus $75. I would go with the free night, but nonetheless even the current offer is still a pretty good one.

If you recently applied for a 100K bonus, I would also suggest contacting American Express and asking to be matched to the new 125K bonus.

Conclusion

This is a very attractive offer, especially if you already have Diamond Status which gets you upgrades and breakfast at lots of properties. If you were planning on getting this card, then this is probably a good time to do so. The card will be automatically converted into a Ascebd card next year, with some extra benefits.

  1. I applied for & was approved for the Hilton Honors Surpass Card in September. The minimum spend was reached within the first month, but I have not received the 100K bonus yet. In the past, it seems like I’ve received AMX bonuses quickly after reaching the minimum spend. Has anyone else experience a delay ?

  2. I believe this is an exclusive offer on ThePointsGuy. Per that website: “This sign-up offer is only available through The Points Guy”

Other blogs have provided that HT.

    • I believe TPG is the sole affiliate with this offer but as far as I understand, DDG found a direct link where Amex is offering this deal directly. That is what we linked to.

    • Updated – looks like the direct link we had found reverted back to 75K. Thanks for the heads up themice.

    • Updated the link to TPG – it looks like the link on his site is the only one working for 125K now. Sorry for the confusion.

  3. Is this a targeted offer? I’m only seeing the 75K offer right now. Even tried different browsers and incognito mode.
