Capital One Quicksilver Switching to Discover Network
The Capital One Quicksilver is undergoing a significant transformation. Capital One is informing existing cardholders that he card will soon move to the Discover network.
The shift makes sense after the recent Capital One and Discover merger. But that’s not the only change for the card. This traditionally flat-rate credit card is introducing tiered rewards that rival some of the best no-fee products in the cash-back market.
The highlight of this transition is the addition of new bonus categories. Ccardholders will now earn an unlimited 3% cash back at grocery stores and gas stations, which is a massive jump from the previous flat rate. In addition to these new tiers, the card maintains its 1.5% cash back on all other purchases and the 5% return on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel.
These changes are set to go into effect as new Discover-branded cards are mailed out to customers throughout May 2026. You need to activate and start using the new card in order to earn 3% cash back on groceries and gas. Existing cards will stop working on July 9, 2026.
Conclusion
This update turns the Quicksilver into a competitive card that is appealing to those that prefer credit card with no annual fee. Besides 1.5% on all purchases, you are also getting 3% on two of the most common spending categories.
It’s worth mentioning that the switch to Discover network might be an issue for those who travel internationally. Discover still faces significantly lower acceptance rates compared to Visa or Mastercard.
