CDC Adds Popular European Destinations to Highest Risk Category
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has added seven more countries to its list of “very high” risk travel destinations this week. That includes popular European destinations such as France and Portugal.
Andorra, Cyprus, France, Jordan, Liechtenstein, Portugal and Tanzania were all added to the CDC’s highest risk category Monday afternoon. All were previously listed as Level 3, which means “high” risk for Covid-19, instead of “very high”.
Portugal and especially France are very popular travel destinations. France ranks as the second most visited European country by Americans, after Italy.
The top risk category, “Level 4: Very high level of COVID-19”, now has 83 destinations. Americans are warned that they should “avoid travel” to countries in this category. Anyone who must travel should be fully vaccinated first, the agency advises.
Countries in the Level 4 category have had more than 500 cases per 100,000 residents in the past 28 days. You can see the full list on the CDC website.

lolol. There is no way ANYONE listens to the CDC anymore.
They have been wrong about, effectively, everything, for two years.
I’m in Portugal right now. Been commuting to the US every two weeks for work.
It’s delightful. Was in Tanzania, East Africa for fun a few months ago. No issues.
South Africa, Botswana, etc. No issues.
If *anyone* still takes the CDC seriously, they are simply missing out on life.
