Cereal Class Actions Settlement, Get $14+ If Eligible

Two customers filed a class action lawsuit in 2016 alleging that Post Foods labeled its cereal products with claims that made the products seem healthy. In fact, the lawsuit says they contain high added sugar content.

The cereals in question include popular names like Honey Bunches of Oats, Raisin Bran, Shredded Wheat etc.. Post Food maintains that the statements on its cereals are true and that the cereals in question are nutrient-dense, healthy foods. The Court has not determined whether Plaintiffs or Post are correct, but both sides have decided to proceed with the settlement.

Eligibility

The Settlement Class includes all persons in the United States who, between August 29, 2012 and November 2, 2020 (the “Class Period”), purchased in the United States, for household use and not for resale or distribution, one of the Class Products.

The Class Products include certain varieties and sizes of Post Raisin Bran, Post Bran Flakes, Post Selects – Blueberry Morning, Great Grains, Honey Bunches of Oats, Honey Bunches of Granola, Shredded Wheat, Alpha Bits, Golden Crisp, Honeycomb, and Waffle Crisp. The specific products included in the Settlement are identified in the Appendix.

Payout

Post has agreed to establish a $15,000,000 “Settlement Fund” to pay all Settlement Expenses, including the costs of Class Notice and Administration, attorneys’ fees and other costs.

Each timely, valid claimant will receive a payment based on the type and estimated amount of Class Products purchased during the Class Period. Based on the estimated number of claims that will be made, the estimated average payment is approximately $14.28. However, the actual amount may vary based on the number of claims.

Class Members wishing to make a claim must either (a) submit a claim form online, or (b) print, fill out, and mail the claim form to the Class Administrator at the following address: PO Box 671, Baton Rouge, LA 70821. The deadline for submitting a claim is May 19, 2021.

  1. My God are people so cheap and petty they actually want to pursue this? Also disappointed you keep posting these type of settlements. Are you and you readers so hard up that they go after every $10-$20 imaginable?!

    • Required all of two minutes to submit. Probably less time than you spend reading and responding to something you have zero interest in. If you don’t like it, why not leave? I’ll never understand these kind of comments.

    • Also, I’m not “hard up” for money. Not even close. That’s not even the point. Again, it required two whole minutes.
