Chase Business Checking Bonus Match

A few weeks ago I wrote about Chase’s targeted business checking bonuses. At the time they were targeting certain customers with either a $300 or a $500 bonus offer. The $300 offer only requires a base level Total Business Checking account while the $500 offer requires a higher cost Performance Business Checking account.

I personally received the $300 offer before news of the $500 offer surfaced and signed up for an account with the lower bonus. I needed a business checking account anyway and this seemed like a great opportunity since sign-up bonuses are more rare on business checking accounts.

Asking for a Match

Eventually the $500 offer surfaced and then there even became a way to generate your own unique $500 offer code. While I wasn’t originally targeted for the $500 bonus, I was able to generate a code in my name, so I decided to send Chase a secure message to see if they could match the higher bonus amount. In my original message I included my unique code and asked them to match.

It took a few replies, but eventually my message went to the right place and I received the following reply:

Thank you for contacting Chase. We understand your concern about your account and will be more than happy to help you.

The new coupon code you provided requires a Chase Performance Business Checking(R). We confirmed that you have a Chase Total Business Checking(R) which is currently not eligible. We can apply the $500 offer if you convert your account to the required type of business account.

For your reference, Chase Performance Business Checking has a $20 Monthly Service Fee. This fee is waived each monthly statement period when you maintain an average daily balance(1) of $50,000 or more in linked business savings (excluding Client Funds Savings accounts), business CDs and other Chase Performance Business Checking accounts.

Other fees, such as Maintenance Fees, may also be charged. Please see the “Service Charge Detail” section of your statement for complete details and a breakdown of the fees we charged your account.

Please confirm if you want to convert your account in a response to this email.

If you need any other assistance, you can send us a secure message. We appreciate your business and thank you for choosing Chase.

I responded and confirmed that I did indeed want the $500 bonus and the Performance Business Checking account. The bonus is paid 60 days after account opening and the monthly fee is waived the first two months. This means I can try the higher level product and always switch back to the Total Business Checking if I don’t need the added features. Even if I pay the $20 monthly fee for a month or two, it is definitely worth getting the extra $200 bonus.

Conclusion

Chase has always been very good at matching credit card bonuses and now it seems that they are equally as good in matching bank bonuses. If you are interested in getting a Chase Business Checking $500 bonus, head to this post and follow the instructions to generate your own $500 code. The $500 offer expires on June 10 and you do need to open your account in-branch. If you already opened an account with the $300 offer, don’t hesitate to ask them to match, but be prepared to switch your account type.

  1. if you convert a performance checking acct to the total biz chkg acct with a lower monthly fee after just 2 months will they claw back the bonus?
    thanks!

  2. Shawn, I signed up for a business checking account at the very end of February in an effort to get my Ink approved (it worked). However, the business checking account came with no sign up bonus. Do you think there’s anyway they’d match? I know it’s pretty late now.

  3. How rigorous are they in the requirements to open a business checking account – e.g. what kind of proof would a sole proprietor need to bring in to open a biz account?

  4. My fine print says 60 days to get the bonus but if account not kept open for 6 months the whole bonus deducted from account. Changes the math significant but overall still a good deal. Anybody else notice this?

  5. I opened mine yesterday. I was also told you have to have an initial deposit of $500, which I knew, and you have to keep at balance of at least $500 for 60 days to get the bonus. If it ever drops below you will not get the bonus.

  6. I opened a Total Biz Checking acct in February with no signup bonus. I sent secured message, asked to match the offer and got a reply saying they do not consider this case online and ask me to go to a branch.

  7. OK, but why isn’t Chase matching the 70k United MPE offer when we were approved for the 50/55k offer less than 3 months ago and were targeted for the 70k?

  8. Hi Shawn, could you teach how to write the convincing letter like that? I really want to get the match too. Thanks.

      • Hey Shawn….when I did mine last week, the performance business checking actually said there was no monthly fee for 3 months, so hopefully that will be the case for you as well.
