Chase Freedom Bonus Categories Quarter 2 2021

Chase Freedom Bonus Categories Quarter 2 2021

Chase Freedom Flex is one of the more popular rewards credit cards. With no annual fee, 5X rotating bonus categories, 3X on dining and drugstores and points that convert to Ultimate Rewards when paired with a premium card, it is a product worth considering.

While some of their competitors like to release bonus categories well ahead of time, Chase only releases the categories a few weeks before the start of the quarter. Today we have learned which categories will earn 5% back on the Chase Freedom & Freedom Flex cards in the second quarter of 2021 on up to $1,500 in spend. Let’s take a look!

Chase Freedom April – June, 2021 Bonus Categories

Here are the just announced bonus categories for Chase Freedom Flex and the discontinued Chase Freedom card for April – June, 2021:

  • Gas stations
  • Home improvement stores

While these categories aren’t as easy as say grocery, I think both home improvement and gas stations do present a nice opportunity for many. For example many gas stations and stores like Lowe’s sell gift cards so you should be able to find a way to spend some money and earn 5X points during the quarter. Of course you can also earn 5X on fuel if you drive a lot.

Note: As of now you can’t activate these Chase Freedom 2nd quarter categories but you should be able to do so beginning on March 15 on this page.

Chase Freedom Flex Welcome Offer

If you don’t currently have the Chase Freedom Flex card (and aren’t over 5/24), it can be a great first card to get with Chase and it has a decent bonus right now.

  • The Offer: Earn a $200 bonus after you spend $500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. Pay no annual fee and receive a 0% intro APR for 15 months from account opening on purchases.

Conclusion

With the ability to earn 5% back at gas stations and home improvement stores, there is plenty of opportunity to max out the $1,500 in spend in the second. Another good quarter for those who have the Chase Freedom or Freedom Flex cards! What do you plan to do to max out your $1,500 in Chase Freedom Flex 5X spend?
