Chase Glitch

Chase Glitch Gave Customers Access to Other People’s Accounts

If you have tried logging in recently into your Chase accounts, you might have noticed something strange. You might have seen less money in there, or more if you were lucky. It was someone else’s money anyway. That was because of a Chase glitch that gave some customers logging in to online systems, access to other clients’ accounts instead of their own. Not only could you access other accounts, but also perform transactions and see personal info on those accounts which you were given access.

Problems started last night and many reports started pouring in until this morning. â€śWe’re still investigating now, but at this point believe it was extremely limited in scope,” Trish Wexler, a spokeswoman for JPMorgan, said in an email as per Bloomberg. The problem has now been fixed and Chase also says that they haven’t noticed any unauthorized transactions, but “would work with customers to resolve any problems”.

Contrary to Chase claims, some people report that there were in fact unauthorized transactions, such as transfers from/to other banks.

Conclusion

There’s still no word of what caused this issue, but you should check your accounts and make sure that everything is in order. It’s scary if someone was able to get in and just transfer money out. Chase will work with you for sure if that happens, but it sounds like a major headache.

I didn’t notice any suspicious activity in my Chase account. Let us know if you were affected by this.
