Best Ever Bonus Coming Soon for Chase Sapphire Preferred

One of the most popular Chase cards, the Chase Sapphire Preferred, currently has a slightly improved offer. Besides the usual 60,000 Ultimate Rewards points, there’s also a $50 credit for grocery purchases. But, soon the bonus will get even better, with an extra 20,000 points. Click here for details and our full review of the card and let’s see when you will be able to get this new offer.

UPDATE 3/22: Now live – you have to log into your account to get the offer to show up.  Link to log in below in red.

The Offer

  • Earn 80,000 Bonus Points after you spend $4,000 on purchases with your new Sapphire Preferred card within the first 3 months of account opening.
  • Plus receive up to $50 in statement credits for grocery store purchases.
  • Annual fee of $95 is not waived.

This offer is not available yet. It goes live on March 21, online and in-branch, as Doctor of Credit reports. In-branch you could possibly have the annual fee waived as well. Or you can wait for the welcome offer to become available through referrals.

You must sign into your account to see the offer.

Card Benefits

  • Earn 2X points on travel and dining at restaurants- from airfare and hotels to fine dining and cafés.
  • Earn 1 point per dollar spent on all other purchases.
  • Get 25% more value when you redeem for airfare, hotels, car rentals and cruises through Chase Ultimate Rewards. For example, 60,000 points are worth $750 toward travel or even more when points are transferred to travel partners.
  • With Pay Yourself Back your points are worth 25% more during the current offer when you redeem them for statement credits against existing purchases in select, rotating categories.
  • Get unlimited deliveries with a $0 delivery fee and reduced service fees on eligible orders over $12 for a minimum of one year with DashPass, DoorDash’s subscription service. Activate by 12/31/21.

Eligibility

The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months. If you are an existing Sapphire customer and would like this product, please call the number on the back of your card to see if you are eligible for a product change. You will not receive the new cardmember bonus if you change products.

The card also is subject to the Chase 5/24 rule.

Conclusion

The welcome bonus for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card has long been 60,000 points. Currently you also get an additional $50 credit for grocery purchases. But this new offer that’s coming on March 21 will be the best public offer ever with 80,000 point and the $50 credit.

  1. I found the link in my account, but I want my husband to refer me. THAT link is still only offering 60,000 points. Any idea if it will change in the next day or two to reflect the 80,000 points?

  2. The offer is on my Chase Credit Cards page after logging in to the Chase website. I’ll wait a week or two to see if in-branch applications waive the $95 first year annual fee.

    • Referrals are not undated yet – you need to log into your account to get the offer right now. The link to sign in is in red above.

  3. Question about the 48mo rule. Let’s say I last applied Jan 1, 2017, got bonus on Apr 1, 2017. Is it safe to apply April 2, 2021, or would you leave some buffer time in there? I don’t want to leave too much extra time in case offer gets pulled… but obviously want to make sure to get the bonus. Thanks!

    • Yeah just has to be 48 months since you got the welcome offer and you can not have any other Sapphire products when applying (CSR etc)

      • I referred by husband on March 11, which I think was one day before this new offer was reported on the blog. He just got the card and we called Chase today before he activated it. We are longtime Chase customers since mid-80s (actually had individual accounts before that but Chase only shows when we opened our joint acct.). And today is actually husband’s birthday. He asked if he could be matched to the new offer, and was given a flat NO, not possible, referenced date he applied.
So I am just watching to make sure I get the referral 15K (have sceenshots).

We also could not get a CSR retention offer you posted about a few months ago so we cancelled that, and just decided to go for the CSP. I can probably upgrade my CSP to CSR if we start to travel overseas again.

Bigger issue for use is having about 14 free night certs that expire between Aug 1 and Jan. (first world problems……)

        • And to followup further: Send a secure message asking to be matched. Same result – apparently Chase isn’t going to budge on this.
If anyone gets matched, I hope you will post so we can circle back to Chase. TIA.
