Citi Adding Japan Airlines as a ThankYou Transfer Partner
Citi appears to be getting ready to add Japan Airlines (JAL) Mileage Bank as a new ThankYou Rewards transfer partner.
While transfers are not yet available, JAL has started appearing on Citi’s ThankYou Loyalty Programs page where cardholders can save their loyalty program information, suggesting that an official launch could be on the way.

At the moment, Japan Airlines is not listed as an active transfer partner, so there is no way to move ThankYou Points to JAL and we do not know what the exact transfer ratio is.
If Citi does add JAL, it would give ThankYou cardholders another oneworld redemption option. Japan Airlines Mileage Bank can be used to book flights on JAL as well as partner airlines, though the program has recently increased fuel surcharges several times.
Getting JAL Mileage Bank miles has become easier recently through transferable points. Rove and Bilt added JAL as a transfer partner earlier this year, joining Capital One as programs that offer transfers to JAL.
Conclusion
Nothing has been officially announced yet. Still, JAL showing up on Citi’s loyalty page is a good sign that a new transfer partnership could be announced soon. More transfer options are always a good thing.
