Citi Checking Bonus, Get $300 with New Account and $15K Deposit
Citi is offering a bonus for new checking accounts. You can earn $300 but you need to deposit a large amount and also keep it in the account to avoid fees. Let’s take a look.
The Offer
- To qualify to earn a $300 cash bonus, you must open a new eligible consumer checking account in The Citibank Account Package between 01/01/18 – 03/31/18. AND
- Within thirty (30) days, make a qualifying deposit of $15,000 or more in new-to-Citibank® funds into the new checking account or a new or existing Citi® Savings Account or existing Citibank® Savings Plus Account, and maintain a minimum balance of $15,000 for sixty (60) consecutive calendar days following the date when you made the qualifying deposit.
Fees
The Citi Priority Account Package has a $25 monthly service fee that is waived when you maintain a balance of $10,000 or more in your eligible deposits, retirement accounts, and investments.
There’s no early closing fee for the account.
Analysis
This offer gives you a $300 bonus but requires a deposit of $15,000 within the first 30 days and you need to keep the money in the account for at least 60 days. You then need to have a balance of 10,000Â in your account to waive a $25 monthly fee. Even though the balance requirement is pretty high, it should still give you a better return than most banks out there.
Citi is often difficult with giving out bonuses, so you might have your money tied up longer than expected.
Conclusion
Citi is not the best for bank bonuses as there’s been plenty of issues with bonuses in the past. But $300 is a big bonus, so should be worth it if you complete all the requirements in time and stay on top of them to receive the bonus as fast as possible. The faster you close the account the better.
