Delta Amex Cards Adding New Benefit
Delta recently increased checked bag fees. But now there’s at least some good news for eligible Delta SkyMiles American Express cardholders.
According to xJonNYC, a new baggage benefit will launch on June 4, 2026 for Delta SkyMiles Amex cards. Eligible Basic Card Members will receive a free second checked bag on Delta and Delta Connection-operated flights within the U.S., including routes to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The benefit will not apply to codeshare flights.
Currently, many Delta Amex cards already include a free first checked bag, so adding a second free bag could provide meaningful savings for families and travelers checking multiple bags.
With Delta’s recent baggage fee increases, this new perk could offset some of those higher costs.
