Discover Deals will End on October 31st

Discover has announced that they will end their Discover Deals program. The program was a great addition to the credit card since it often offered good cashback rates and discounts at certain retailers. Especially during the first year, where all cashback is doubled, Discover Deals was even better.

The End of Discover Deals

If you log into your Discover accounts, you should see the following message.

Discover Deals will end October 31, 2018

We’re retiring the program to focus on simpler and more meaningful ways to earn and redeem rewards. Any pending rewards will be added to your account as usual.

Conclusion

This was a good program that added value to Discover cards. With the loss of purchase insurance and now the shopping portal, Discover cards are getting less appealing. The 5% categories are really the only good part left.
