Amex Spending Offer: Earn 9X Hilton Honors On Gas & Grocery!

I just got an email from American Express that made this cold and rainy day a whole lot brighter.  They sent me a new offer on my Hilton Honors American Express card that will net me 9X earning on gas and grocery.  They had similar offers at the end of 2018 and often sent them out for multiple cards so be sure to check your email. Details of the Offer

They have automatically enrolled my card in the offer.  The terms are as follows:

  • Earn an additional 4 Hilton Honors points (9 total) at U.S. Supermarkets & U.S. Gas Stations.
  • Good through 6/2/19
  • Only valid on the first $500 of eligible purchases

I value Hilton points at 1/2 a cent a piece so that is like getting 4.5% back on those purchases.  It is possible to get a better deal with a card like the Amex Everyday Preferred but I plan to take advantage of the offer because I am low on Hilton points, thanks Amazon.

Conclusion

I love spending offers, we just saw one for Citi cardholders, and I am glad that American Express seems to be making these a regular thing.  It offers value to the cardholders and it is kind of like getting a welcome bonus without an application.  While the $500 limit is on the lower side I will take an easy 4,500 Hilton Honors points any day of the week.
