Hyatt Elite Night Credits For Multiple Rooms

Do You Earn Hyatt Elite Night Credits For Multiple Rooms & Bonus Points?

I had a buddy reach out to me this week asking about Hyatt elite night credits for multiple rooms. He was also wondering about bonus points promos on multiple rooms. He is chasing Globalist status, as many are right now, and he needed to book multiple rooms for family members over the next week and was wondering if he had just hit the motherload. Would he rack up double elite night credits on all of these rooms with the current promo?  Would the World of Hyatt points be raining from the sky with their bonus journeys promo on all of these rooms?  Let’s take a look.

Hyatt Elite Night Credit For Multiple Rooms

I started off with bad news for my buddy on the elite night credit front.  Hyatt only allows you to earn elite night credits on one room per stay, as most brands do. He would still get double credits on the stay until the end of February with the current promo but that is it, just one room gets the goodies.

Hyatt Points Earning On Multiple Rooms

Some better news here, World of Hyatt allows members to earn points on up to 3 rooms.  This is less than Hilton’s 4 rooms or IHG’s 9 room limit but it is better than nothing.

What About Points Promotions?

He also had asked me specifically about the Bonus Journeys promotion going on right now.  Here is what the terms of the promo says about multiple rooms.

A member will only earn Bonus Points and bonus Tier-Qualifying Nights for the room she/he occupies during the Promotion Period.

Does The Named Member Need To Actually Be There?

This is another question we often get, does the World of Hyatt member actually need to be there to earn the elite night credits and the points.  The short answer is yes. The terms state that the member must be there in order earn the elite night credits and bonus points on stays.

While that is what the terms say how it works out there in the real world can be different.  You can often book a room for yourself and add someone to the room and alert the hotel that they will be checking in.  You shouldn’t earn any elite night credit etc. for this but you usually will.  When you are talking about 3+ rooms I am guessing they are going to want to see you on property though.  Not to mention this is a way to potentially get your account shut down for abuse so proceed with caution here.

Hyatt Elite Night Credits For Multiple Rooms – Final Thoughts

My friend didn’t get the answers he was hoping for but not all is lost.  At least he would be able to earn points on 3 of the rooms and double elite night credits on his room. He could also put all of the rooms on his World of Hyatt card and earn some bonus points that way. The cost of the stay would go towards the 2 elite night credits you earn every $5,000 in spend and the $15K free night you can earn each year.

  1. Another great thing that Starwood did: elite credits for up to 3 rooms. God I wish Marriott had just imported the SPG wholesale program wholesale instead of using Marriott’s comparatively crappy programs.

  2. You can however earn stay credits for 2 different hotels on the same night. For example you stay at a Hyatt place on 2/1 and you reserve a room for your buddy across the street at say Hyatt Regency on 2/1 you will get 2 nights (possibly 4 if during double dip period)

    • Hi Kat,

      Thanks for your sharing!

Wondering how will this work? Only Globalist can reserve a room for someone else, right? I am thinking about booking a room for myself at one hyatt hotel, and on the same date, booking a room for my friend at a different hyatt hotel. I am an explorist. Can I do so and how?
