FAA Releases PSA Video for Unruly Behavior
As travel is rebounding to nearly pre-pandemic numbers, we have seen many cases of unruly passengers aboard. These incidents sometimes lead to major delays, or passengers in question even being duct taped to their seats.
The Federal Aviation Administration has issued over $1 million in fines this year. Now they have released a public service announcement video featuring actual recordings of flight crews informing air traffic controllers of emergency situations. The video was first released to CNNÂ and uses the tagline “You don’t want your pilots distracted. Unruly behavior doesn’t fly.”
“We’ve got a disruptive customer in the back,” says the voice of one unidentified flight crew following once incident. “Declared an emergency, we’d like to divert.”
“The moment that it happens in the back, the attention of the whole crew goes to that,” American Airlines’ Captain Dennis Tajer, of the Allied Pilots Association, told CNN. “The first thing you want to do is not distract from your primary duties,” chief of which is “keeping this airplane safe.”
