Federal Stimulus Check Deposits Now Hitting!

Have you heard? The United States government is sending stimulus checks to most Americans! While not everyone is eligible to receive this money from the Federal Government, most who are should be receiving their money by next week. Some people have even received it already!

Who Is Eligible for Stimulus Checks

Stimulus Checks will be coming to Americans in the coming days/weeks in the amount of $1,200+ depending on qualifying factors. Here is how it works.

  • Single people earning $75K or less will receive $1,200
  • Heads of household who make $112,500 or less will receive $1,200
  • Married couples earning $150K or less will receive $2,400
  • Additional payments of $500 per child 16 or under will be given

Those with higher incomes than shown may be eligible for reduced payments depending on overall income. I recommend checking out this Stimulus FAQ to learn more about if you are qualified and how much you will receive.

When Will Your Money Come?

Stuart Sopp of banking startup Current said a first wave of payments came on Friday according to Newsweek. Of those payments about 40% were for the minimum amount of $1,200 with some being as high as $4,700.

Despite some people receiving their money yesterday, the bulk of Americans should expect a payment next week. The IRS has said stimulus checks will be going out in a first waive with direct deposits hitting next week. If the IRS has your banking information from past returns or you receive social security, your money should show up next week.

Will You Have to Wait?

If you haven’t filed taxes in 2018 or 2019 or aren’t required to pay then you can register now with the IRS for your stimulus payment. If you have filed and don’t normally pay or have filed and the IRS doesn’t have your bank information, a website should be up next week to help you register for the stimulus.

According to CNN, “The free “Get My Payment” web application will be accessible on the IRS website and allow taxpayers who provide their social security number, birth date and mailing address to monitor their payment status, according to a Treasury press release on Friday.”

Twitter Users Are Getting Their Checks

Twitter is always a great place to keep up with current events and it seems that plenty of people have taken to Twitter to share news of their new money!

Federal Stimulus Check Deposits – Bottom Line

Judging from the number of people who are celebrating on Twitter, I would say the stimulus checks are rolling out fairly quickly. None of the MtM team has received their money yet, however I am sure it will be hitting our accounts soon.

  1. Has anyone heard if anyone that banks at Capstar has gotten their stimulus check. I bank there and haven’t gotten anything and we filed our taxes march 4th and still havent gotten our taxes by direct deposit. So if anyone knows if anyone who banks thru Capstar and has gotten their stimulus please let me know

  2. I dont have my tax return deposited because I owe every year. I’ve paid this year already. When I go to irs.gov website I go to where it says, Get my payment (coming mid-april) nothing happens and that is where I’m suppose to put my bank info. What do I do?

    • The website for filers to submit info is not up. The only website up right now is for people who aren’t required to file. The IRS says the website for filers should be up this week.

  3. I got my tax refund deposited on my turbo tax card. I get it on there every year. Will my stimulus check go on there as well? Do I have to add an actual bank account?

    • You’ll have to ask H&R Block. My guess is they advance you the money and then take the refund when it comes. You may have to wait for the IRS website to come online so you can give them your info.

  4. I’ll be getting around $80. Your article is misleading because the minimum payment is NOT $1200. Folks with an AGI between $75k and $99k will get a reduced payment. I recommend you stick to talking about miles; taxation is outside of your expertise.

    • Hey JS. I’m sorry you were confused by the post. The following text is in the post and it addresses exactly what you say. Have a great day!

      • Shawn – I have come to the conclusion that a lot of people go straight to posting without reading (or at least carefully reading). I’s definitely not just here.

  5. The wife and I won’t be getting one which is a blessing in and of itself. But I’m extremely thrilled that others are getting the help that they need and hopefully everyone else who qualifies gets it soon.

We haven’t always been blessed to not have to worry about our finances so I know the struggle is real for those who are going through it. May god bless us all through these trying times

  6. Nope. Always owe, so no direct deposit info on file. Hoping that they get a website open soon so we can go in and add our direct deposit information.

    • My suspicion is that the new portion of the portal will be available after the first waves of direct deposits are done. Then there will be less traffic to crash the site.

  7. Self employed here, always have to pay in. Not sure how they will find my banking information. Probably will just need to wait until they mail the paper checks around May 1.
