World of Hyatt Welcome Offer Decrease
The World of Hyatt credit card was launched to much fanfare, myself included. I called it the new king of hotel cards in my review. The card has a lot to offer. It has a lucrative welcome offer, a good earning structure, valuable points, and nice spending bonuses. Unfortunately Chase instilled the Chase 5/24 rule on all cards so it is not available to everyone like it used to be.
Chase has announced some changes to the welcome offer that is reducing the value by $180 in the next week or so. If you were considering the card, and are under 5/24 you may want to jump on the offer before the offer is devalued.

Details on the New Offer
The new World of Hyatt credit card welcome offer goes into place starting January 10, 2019.
SOME OF THESE OFFERS MAY HAVE ENDED OR CHANGED
- Earn 25,000 points after $3,000 in purchases within the first 3 months
- Earn another 25,000 points after $6,000 within the first 6 months
The current offer is for 30,000 points at each spending threshold so 10,000 more points than the new offer. Those points are worth around $180.
Before the card was relaunched the bonus always hovered between 40-50,000 points. The current 60,000 point offer is as high as it has ever been. It is unclear if it will ever reach these levels again.

Conclusion
The World of Hyatt credit card is one of my favorite cards and is near the front of my wallet. I even upgraded my wife’s Hyatt card so we could earn 2 free nights after spending $15,000 each year. The current welcome offer of 60,000 points is more lucrative than the Sapphire Preferred or Sapphire Reserve card at this point. If it was on your list don’t miss out and get it before the 10th. Too bad it is no longer available to everyone.

I closed my old acct but waited exsctly 30 days & instantly approved.
Excellent – thanks for the DP Pam!
I cancelled 2 days ago and just applied…I heard some people were approved the next day. I have a high credit score, good earning and a few Chase cards as well as, great track record with them, not sure if that all matters. We’ll see.
Thanks for the DP JBC – did you get an instant approval?
Can I cancel my original Hyatt card now and apply immediately after? Waited too late I am afraid
I honestly don’t know if you can close one day and reapply the next day. I am sure people have done but with the way Chase has been lately I am not sure if it is worth the risk.
