Free American Airlines Platinum Status Offer & Challenge

The new offer gives you status for three months once activated. You must register by November 1, 2020. If you meet the terms of the challenge you can keep it till 1/31/22. Thanks to reader Josh L. for sending this to me.
I received a similar offer a few months ago for Gold status. I turned that Gold status with American into Silver status with Delta.
The Offer
Register for this exclusive offer to enjoy free American Airlines AAdvantage® Platinum status for 3 months after activation. You must register by November 1, 2020.

Status Challenge
There is also a status challenge with this offer. Keep your status through January 31, 2022, by earning:
- $1,400 Elite Qualifying Dollars (EQDs) and 14 Elite qualifying segments or
- $1,400 EQDs and 10,500 Elite Qualifying Miles (EQMs)

Conclusion
If you did receive this offer for Platinum status you should definitely get on it before it expires on November 1st. It would be best to wait until just before a scheduled flight or right before the end of the offer to activate it.
The bad thing about American Airlines status is it doesn’t work on award tickets unless you have Executive Platinum.

I got the email but nothing showing under promotions for elite challenge.
I received the Platinum offer, but I won’t be flying until September of next year.
Should I not register for this challenge, and hope to get another before September?
If I register now, will that prevent me from getting a challenge offer later?
If you know you won’t use it then I would just skip it and hope it comes back around again.

I thought you couldnt match your “given” status from AA to delta since you didnt actually earn the status. Dowsnt delra state in order to match to a competitor you had to have earned the status?
It worked for me last time. I took a screen shot of my status and miles from my main log in page. They approved it.
I didn’t receive the Plat pro in an email but did receive the gold…is there a way I am able to receive the plat pro?

I got the Platinum email. Not sure what I’ll do with AA; I don’t fly them that much…

Do the EQD and/or EQM have to be on AA? I have upcoming C class flights on QR, which would get me 90% of the way to the EQD, and 65% of the way to the EQM. It wouldn’t be hard to reach the thresholds from there.

To extend your status, you must earn qualifying EQDs, EQSs and EQMs when flying on eligible tickets for flights operated by American Airlines or marketed by American, American Eagle®, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines or Qantas, between the date you register and 3 months after.

Same as @jasonalanmorgan. Flew to London in Main Cabin Extra. It expired May 15 and I wish we could get the challenge again but know we won’t. I didn’t have enough travel planned to meet it, could possibly do it now

Mark, I had Plat Pro from the last challenge and was able to book the Main Cabin Extra seats for my family on award bookings.
