Free Fuel Points at Stop&Shop/Giant with New Visa Gift Card Deal

Stop & Shop and Giant have a new Visa gift cards deal starting tomorrow that can get you great fuel savings. Let’s take a look.

The Offer

Earn 3x Gas Rewards Points when you purchase any Visa Gift Cards with your Stop & Shop or Giant card.

Key Terms

  • Offer valid 7/14/17 to 7/20/17
  • Must use your Stop&Shop/Giant card
  • Offer valid only on Visa gift card purchases

Maximizing Offer

Gift card purchases don’t normally earn fuel points, but through this promotion, you get 3x. Make sure to use the right credit card to maximize your rewards. Amex Blue Cash Preferred will give you 6% at grocery stores and  you can also get 5% with Amex Old Blue Cash.

You should purchase $500 gift cards to maximize you card rewards and fuel points.

Gas Rewards

These gas rewards used to be better, but these deals could still get you cheap gas. Every 100 points are worth $0.10 off per gallon on your fill up of up to 20 gallons. If you buy a $500 Visa gift card and you will receive 1500 points. That would be $1.50 off per gallon. Multiply that by how many gallons you can pump in one fill up, to calculate your profits. The limit is 20 gallons.

If you buy more than one gift card, you’ll obviously get more points but you can only redeem up to 1500 points per transaction in some areas, which is $1.50 off per gallon. Gas Rewards points are valid for 30 days from the day they are earned. Points can be reedemed at Stop & Shop gas stations and at participating Shell locations.

Conclusion

This is a great deal for people who drive since it get’s you very cheap or close to free gas and a small profit through credit card rewards. It’s also a better deal than the usual 2X offer.

Previously some locations didn’t allow gift card purchases with credit cards but it now explicitly states in the ad that they now accept credit cards for the purchase of Visa, Mastercard and American Express gift cards.

Figure out how many points you need, and purchase accordingly. Points expire in 30 days, so you don’t overspend if you can’t use them.

  1. Wow! You lucky lucky folks in Stop&Shop/Giant territory.
Up to $1.50/ gal off for just a low $5.95 fee of a $500 vgc/mcgc. Using a 6% cb amex card really makes this a great moneymaker.

This grocery chain has a bunch to teach Kroger/ Albertsons chains – where the best gc’s we can buy with cc are the $100 fixed vgc/mcgc’s to get points (even though they often run 4x points promos.)

Note to M2M editor – you state above only 1,000 pints for a $500 gc purchase (i.e @ 2x) You may want to update to 3x. Also, Is the deal Unlimited for a given account? Not that that’s a hurdle if one opens multiple accounts!

    • You’re right Ken. Forgot to update that section, since offer is usually 2x. I don’t think there’s a limit as far as I know. But I’m sure it will look suspicious if you’re purchasing thousands in gift cards in one transaction and also fuel points expire in 30 days, so that is the real limit.

As for opening multiple accounts, I have never tried, but it says that system, will automatically merge accounts if it detects same name etc.
