Google Launches Individual Hotel Price Tracking
Scoring a deal on your next hotel stay just got easier easier. While tracking hotel prices at a city-wide level has been a helpful way to gauge general prices, Google has rolling out the ability to track prices for individual hotels.
To get started on your desktop, simply search for your hotel of choice by name and flip the new price tracking toggle. If you are browsing on mobile, the option is tucked under the Prices tab after you perform your search.
Once activated, you will receive an automated email alert when there is a significant price drop for your selected dates. While these alerts often catch lower rates from third-party online travel agencies, keep in mind that many major brands offer price match guarantees.

For those who prefer to use points, these price drop alerts can still be useful. With many major loyalty programs now utilizing dynamic pricing, the cost of an award stay is often tied to the cash rate. This means that when the cash price for a room drops, the number of points required for that same night may decrease as well.
If you have already booked an award stay, seeing a price drop alert is your cue to check your loyalty account. You might be able to rebook the same room for fewer points.
