Grand Hyatt Washington Safety Video
I am used to staying in hotels that are a throwback to another era. During our three month backpacking trip through Eastern Europe last year, we seemingly stayed in one every single night.
We recently stayed at the Grand Hyatt Washington DC which is a very modern upscale hotel in the nation’s capital. The hotel for the most part has been renovated, however something still remains from decades ago.
Tune to channel 9 on the television and you will find a safety video that I would guess dates back to the late 80’s or early 90’s. It is as if somewhere in the basement of the hotel a lonely VCR plays a tape, rewinds it and starts the process again.
In the video, a woman standing in front of a grey backdrop with red lighting reminds guests to always keep their physical key or key card with them and to make sure to check their viewport. Oh and don’t bring strangers to your room!
Of course the video does offer good advice, just in a way that makes it look like every bad sexual harassment training video of yesteryear. Have you ever stayed at a beautiful hotel only to find some odd relic from another era?
