Harrah’s NOLA Now Requires Proof of Vaccination

New Orleans is a popular destination for American. There’s good music, good food, lots of bars, and casinos. But if you do plan to go there to gamble, you will need to bring your vaccination card with you.

Harrah’s New Orleans Hotel & Casino will be the first resort in the nation to require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test for guests. Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced last week that people will need to show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test before entering New Orleans restaurants, bars, and other venues. The order goes into effect today, Aug. 16. In addition, masks are required to worn at all times.

“We have no choice,” Cantrell said in a press conference Thursday. “The situation is dire. We are out of time. The COVID outbreak is severe and pushing our hospitals and first responders for 18 months. The people of New Orleans are at the brink.”

Several other cities such as New York City and San Francisco are requiring vaccines for indoor dining and other activities. Los Angeles is also considering similar measures.

As for casinos, Las Vegas could be next in line to institute similar measures. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that some entertainment venues in Las Vegas’ may also be subjected to a requirement to be vaccinated in the coming months. National concert promoter AEG Presents, which operates the entertainment venue at Resorts World Las Vegas and the theater at Virgin Hotels, announced that ticket holders need to be vaccinated by Oct. 1 to gain entry.

Louisiana and especially the city of New Orleans have reported growing rates of infection and hospitalization from COVID-19 in recent weeks. Louisiana set COVID-19 hospitalization records for 10 straight days as of Aug. 11.

  1. I have forged vaccine documents and would never get a “vaccine” for something that has a 99.998% survivability rate. In fact, you are more likely to die from getting the vaccine and contracting the flu if you had the ‘jab’. The whole thing is ludicrous but if we gotta play games then so be it.

    • Not sure what percent of the US population 650,000 dead are, but it’s more than your survivability “math.” Go ahead – fake your documents and maybe you’ll get sick with the virus – and when that happens, let’s make sure you pay for the medical care.

  2. I’m not sure why you single out the casino? This was a government mandate.

“There’s good music, good food, lots of bars, and casinos. But if you do plan to go there to gamble, you will need to bring your vaccination card with you.”

Even if you don’t plan to gamble, you’ll need the vax card to enjoy the good music (in the clubs), the good food (in the restaurants), and the bars.

    • Because it is the first Casino to require it in the country – other cities have already rolled out similar requirements. We covered New Orleans as a whole requiring it in the article as well.

  3. Great to hear, keep the requirements coming! Anti-vaxxers can stay home and commiserate with like minded people; the rest of us can enjoy responsible freedom.

    • You sound like someone who doesn’t have any trust in your decision or your vaccine. Just calling someone a “anti-vaxxer” doesn’t make it true. Makes you immature. Just because they don’t want this specific vaccine doesn’t make them a “anti-vaxxer”. If you want your government to make all your decisions for you why don’t you move to Cuba?

      • I trust science and the vaccine works – a mature decision. As for going to Cuba (?) well, I’m apt to stay here in the US and be civil and help the group effort to contain this virus. Get your shot; it works and gets us closer to herd immunity, and then the COVID will be nothing but a minor virus in the future….

  4. Great news! My town here has a growing number of places that are insisting on the same thing and that is without a state mandate! I wish everywhere did this so to encourage the laggards among us to go get their shots.
