Hilton has released the latest list of properties which will be changing categories.  Starting on July 9, 2014, 24 properties will increase categories while 15 properties will decrease.  Lets take a look at some of the properties which will be changing.
Notable Properties
A few notable properties are decreasing categories. Â For example, the Conrad Beijing & the Fiji Beach Resort are both decreasing from Category 8 hotels down to category 7.
Three properties are actually moving from category 6 down to category 4. Â These properties are: DoubleTree Suites Omaha, Hampton Inn Greenfield & Hampton Inn Indianapolis/Fisher.
Among the properties increasing categories, there are a few noticeable ones as well. Both the DoubleTree Resort in Key West and the Doubletree in Breckenridge, CO are moving up two categories from 6 to 8!
There are also a couple of increases in the Orlando area as both the DoubleTree Hotel in Lake Buena Vista & the Hilton Lake Buena Vista are moving from categories 5 to 6.
Conclusion
This list isn’t bad and is just a normal adjustment as part of doing business. Â As rates change in different areas and for different properties, companies like Hilton have to adjust their redemption costs in order to remain profitable. Â I have no issue with a minor adjustment like this.
