Hilton Testing Guaranteed Suite Upgrades

Last week, The Points Guy published news that Hilton was testing out upgrade certificates offering a guaranteed suite upgrade at the time of booking with some of it’s higher revenue elite customers. Also, Hilton has confirmed that it plans to offer guaranteed suite upgrades to all members later this year.

The Diamond Elite members who were selected for the pilot program were given one Suite Upgrade Certificate that allows them to upgrade one stay to a suite at the time of booking. The current certificates expire in March and are valid for up to 7 nights. The suite upgrade is available on both award and paid stays which is pretty cool.

Thoughts

There are several details about the confirmed upgrades that are unknown and since this is just a test run, we shouldn’t assume the current certificates will be the same as what Hilton offers in the future. This is great for Hilton loyalists and something to consider for people looking to switch from Marriott. It will be interesting to see how the certificates are earned and who they will be offered to.
