New Hotel Chain & Another Chain’s Expansion

While yesterday’s announcement of Hyatt Centric was exciting, there isn’t a lot to report on it yet. The company released details about the new concept, but aside from a list of cities, we don’t know a lot about the properties themselves. Thankfully there is some other interesting brand news to report on.

IHG’s Chinese brand HUALUXE Hotel & Resorts has announced the details about their first two properties and Hyatt is expanding the Andaz brand to Southeast Asia.

HUALUXE Hotels & Resorts Finally Opening!

IHG announced their new HUALUXE brand back in 2012 with plans to open the first properties in 2013 or 2014. The project has obviously seen delays, however today they announced the location of the first two hotels in the chain.

IHG describes HUALUXE as, “An upscale hotel brand that is designed specially for Chinese travelers.” The new chain is part of the company’s plan to capture a greater share of the Chinese market.

The first two HUALUXE hotels will be located in Nanchang and Yangjiang. Yangjiang is located in Guangdong not far from Macau while Nanchang is located in the heart of China.

Currently IHG has plans to open 24 properties over the next 3-5 years with expansion plans calling for the brand to be in 100 cities within the next 20 years. It is going to be interesting to follow this brand’s development and what differences the hotels have compared to their Western counterparts.

You can find out more information about HUALUXE hotels along with a video on the IHG website. Additionally you can read about the two new properties here.

Andaz Brand Coming to Singapore

HUALUXE hotels

In other hotel related news, Hyatt is brining their Andaz brand to Singapore for the first time in 2017. The new hotel will be located in the Ophir-Rochor district in a building designed by architect Ole Scheeren.

According to the press release, “Andaz Singapore will comprise of more than 340 guestrooms and will offer the district’s rising creative class an intimate, contemporary and relaxed environment. The hotel will also offer a lounge area, restaurants and bars, a rooftop outdoor venue, meeting and event spaces, spa services, a fitness center, an outdoor swimming pool, and a gift shop.”

I really love the Andaz brand and am exicted to see it expanding further. While I am sure this property will cost a ton of points (my guess would be category 6) it may be a go to when visiting one of my favorite countries in the world.

Conclusion

While the announcement of Hyatt Centric was exciting yesterday, HUALUXE hotels intrigue me since it will be interesting to see a western company’s take on Chinese hotels. While I may not stay in either of the new HUALUXE hotels, I think the Andaz Singapore might be on my list when it opens!
