Hy-Vee Gift Card Deal
It’s seemingly raining gift card deals lately and I only expect it to heat up a bit more as we get into the holiday season.
As a reminder:
- Staples has a Visa gift card rebate this week
- Bed Bath and Beyond has a Visa gift card rebate this week
If those weren’t enough, regional grocery chain Hy-Vee (mostly in the Midwest) has a decent promotion on gift cards. Let’s take a look.
The Offer
Receive a free Hy-Vee $10 gift card with the purchase of $100 or more in Visa or MasterCard gift cards
Key Terms
- Variable load cards not included.
- Maximum load value of $1,999.99 per customer, per day.
- Offer good 10/26/16 – 11/1/16.

Analysis
If you shop at Hy-Vee anyway and especially if you have a card that earns bonus rewards in the grocery category this might be a deal to look at. It is a shame that variable load cards are excluded (and don’t ask me what the “maximum load value” language means), but even if you purchase a $100 card for $5.95 it could make sense to get some spend, earn some rewards and pocket a few bucks.

Conclusion
‘Tis the season of great gift card deals and hopefully more will come soon. This isn’t the greatest deal ever, but if you are local to Hy-Vee and can liquidate these cards, this could be a nice deal, especially considering it seems to be instant as opposed to a mail in type deal. Happy shopping!

Picked up a pair of $100 VGCs last night, that was the largest fixed value they had. No gas points issued.
A 2.2% return on a BOA card, with the $10 instant gift card. Not a great deal considering the $5.95 cost tho. I’ll probably buy a few more this week, but likely won’t go overboard on this one.

Thanks for the tip. Hy-vee is hit or miss on the gas rewards, but it still be worth it. Cub foods is the store we mostly buy from in MN.
HyVee corporate policy is cash only
I have been buying variables from H-V for a long time and always paid with cc…they just enforce the $1,999.99/day . excluding the variables from this deal makes it worthless in my opinion
Do you get automatic gas reward points?
Never been able to get fuel points at Hyvee with MCGC/VGC. eBay and other store GCs, yes though.
No gas points on variables…Never tried the fixed value ones.
