Hyatt Hotels That Don’t Accept Suite Upgrade Awards
Hyatt has quietly updated the list of Hyatt hotels that don’t accept suite upgrade awards. While Suite Upgrade Awards remain one of the most valuable perks in the World of Hyatt program, they’re not accepted at every property, and that list continues to grow. If this trend grows, it may make people rethink chasing World of Hyatt status, or at least which Milestone Rewards they choose. Update 8/15/26: We have added in the latest additions to the exclusion list.
What Are Hyatt Suite Upgrade Awards?
Suite Upgrade Awards allow eligible World of Hyatt members to confirm a standard suite at the time of booking for stays of up to seven nights. They can be used on eligible paid stays and points bookings.
However, they’re only valid at participating hotels, and Hyatt continues to maintain an exclusion list (under Appendix B) that has gradually expanded over the years. It’s getting to the point where we should start compiling a list of the few eligible properties that are left.
New Properties Added To The List
Here are the latest hotels added to the list of Hyatt hotels that don’t accept suite upgrade awards (HT Loyalty Lobby):
- Park Hyatt Mendoza
- Hyatt Regency Anchorage
- Mar Monte Hotel – Unbound by Hyatt
The pace has picked up recently on these additions. It is still a smaller number compared the entire portfolio – but it isn’t a small list overall. Plus, I am not sure any hotel should be allowed to do this when it is a perk of earning elite status (or elite nights at least).

or at any hotel and resort that does not have Premium Suites (even if such hotel or resort has Specialty, Premier, Presidential or Diplomatic Suite or similar suite categories).

Hyatt’s Suite Upgrade Awards are still among the best elite benefits offered by any hotel program, but the growing list of excluded properties is disappointing.
